“WholyFit – Godly Mindfulness”
There’s a new craze going around that claims to do the same things for us without Jesus. It’s called Mindfulness.
According to my friends at Google, Mindfulness is “the psychological process of bringing one’s attention to experiences occurring in the present moment, which can be developed through the practice of meditation and other training.” But three letters are missing from this practice.
GIMME A “G!”
GIMME A “O!”
GIMME A “D!”
Ok, sorry. But you get my point. What is mindfulness without God? It’s training your body to calm itself down without using our God. I would suggest that Mindfulness encourages us to worship our own bodies and not our God. Anyone else see a problem with this?
You’re reading a blog written by someone who had the Calm Mindfulness App on her phone for over a year and practiced it faithfully every night. A lady who can calm herself down by relaxing her face one muscle at a time and breathing deeply. But I’ve learned that it’s not worth doing unless we’re meditating on our Lord and Savior.
That’s why practicing WholyFit is like mindfulness with God infused! It’s exercising for the right reasons, not for our glory but for the glory of our God! He is our reason for breathing, our reason for relaxing in peace knowing that we will one day rest forever with Him. We don’t need anything but our Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father, We are so grateful to be a member of Your family. Remind us that nothing on Earth is worth doing if it isn’t through You. Thank you for giving us the tools to calm ourselves down naturally. Don’t let us fall into the trap of thinking we do not need You to do it. We worship the one true God that is You. We love You, Lord. Amen
