“Grace”

Why should God let you into heaven?

What a loaded question, huh? I think a lot of us fall into a trap of thinking if we do enough good deeds and live a respectful life, we can be worthy of God’s love. We do our best to follow a strict prayer schedule and try not to sin, asking for repentance when we falter.

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

God is so patient with us. We’re always striving to be perfect Christians and always stumbling along the way. There was only one person who managed to achieve a sinless and perfect life on Earth and His name is Jesus.

“What shall we say then? Are we to continue to sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? So you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6: 1-4

This really comes down to a transformed heart. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and understand the grace that He gave to us by his sacrifice on the cross, it transforms us into new life. We experience guilt and sadness at our shortcomings and sins. But it’s grace that allows us to give it to Jesus, to lay it at the foot of the Cross and allow Jesus to take it from your burdens.

“For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:19-20

That scripture means so much to me. If Jesus can do what He did on the cross for me then I can do anything to His glory.

We are blessed at WholyFit that Laura created a routine around this scripture. As I laid in a hospital bed preparing to give birth to my daughter, I spent some serious time with God. Being only 33 weeks pregnant, I was scared for my daughter’s life and development. So I rested in the scripture from Galatians, doing the WholyFit moves in my mind and knowing that God was holding Natalee and He was also holding me. I never thought I had the strength for pregnancy and delivery. I now know I don’t have the strength to do it alone – but with the strength of God on my side, I can do anything.

So why should God let me into Heaven? He shouldn’t, plain and simple. There’s nothing I can do on Earth that would make me worthy of His glory. I could teach countless WholyFit classes and spend every moment worshipping and while God loves our devotion, it is not what gets us into Heaven. Grace means He loves me more than I will ever be able to fully understand. He loves me so much that He would give His only son so that I can have new life. When that’s accepted by us on Earth, then His glory in Heaven is ours forever.

Dear Jesus, Thank you for Your grace. Help us to truly understand what it means to walk in Your glory knowing that Your sacrifice was enough for us. Lord, I may not ever be good enough for Heaven but that’s why You’ve gifted Heaven to us through grace. We’re so blessed that You’re our God. Thank You for loving us as much as You do. We rest in Your peace. Amen.

Spreading love and peace,

Chelsea
