Why Choose WholyFit Instead
HISTORY OF WHOLYFIT
WHOLYFIT was founded by fitness professional Laura Monica, who has developed a multi-level strengthening and stretching program built to accomplish specific health and fitness goals for Christians. Laura’s background comes from 30 years of exercise prescription and program design (see Bio).
NEED FOR WHOLYFIT
WHOLYFIT Devotional Exercise encourages health and fitness incorporating the Christian lifestyle practices of: Prayer, Biblical Meditation on Scripture, Worship and Rest.
All training is presented from a conservative, Biblical, evangelical worldview from a loving and joyful attitude full of worship and thanksgiving. Goals are centered on wholeness, holiness and fitness through Christ Jesus alone.
ALL FITNESS LEVELS, BODY SIZES AND SHAPES ARE WELCOME
WHOLYFIT certification is geared toward the church environment and health clubs. In the church it can be presented as “a bible study in motion.”
SAFETY
WHOLYFIT teachers are trained by experienced, knowledgeable fitness professionals using cutting edge research and design so that classes are safe for the general population.
WholyFit’s original postures may sometimes look like yoga, but most often, the technique behind them is very different. WholyFit exercises abide by the American College of Sports Medicine Guidelines for Group Exercise.

WHOLYFIT has a defined format with a detailed, purposeful warm-up. Yoga is not globally defined as to a consistent format and does not always contain a warm-up.
WHOLYFIT exercises are based on ACSM and AFAA fitness guidelines which promote a high benefit to risk ratio. Yoga is entrenched in tradition and some common traditional poses have a high risk to benefit ratio (like “Lotus” and “Plough”).
WHOLYFIT offers fitness based sequencing. You will get an awesome workout that is just right for you. Many Yoga classes do not emphasize the specific fitness goals that WholyFit does.

PROFESSIONAL QUALITY
Church members as well as Health Club members deserve excellence. Excellence is WHOLYFIT’S distinguishing characteristic. WHOLYFIT training includes anatomy, Kinesiology, exercise design and group leadership as well as discipleship training in evangelism and discipleship, inspiring others to follow Christ.
WHOLYFIT is based on bio-mechanics of movement offering modifications using incremental presentation techniques.
INTEGRITY
WHOLYFIT postures correspond to Scripture and are Christ-honoring. Names of yoga postures are often named after stories honoring religious heroes of the yoga religions. (For example, the “hero” pose in yoga honors a deity. Jesus is the only hero worthy of our worship.)
WHOLYFIT teaches the Biblical practice of Christian Meditation by thinking about Scripture. This is much different than classical Yogic transcendental meditation which teaches mantras based on the names of Hindu gods.
WHOLYFIT teachers are servants of God who provide a multi-level and self-paced program, offering gradual training using cutting edge personal training techniques. Yoga systems often venerate teachers by calling them “Master” and elevate the more advanced practitioners, calling them “adepts.”
WHOLYFIT is integrity. You don’t have to compromise your faith in Jesus in order to do WholyFit. Yoga Alliance registration, on the other hand, requires the registrant to SIGN HER NAME stating that she has practiced mantras and chanting in a dedicated yoga environment (a Christian yoga environment that is not dedicated to promoting classical yoga does not qualify.) The only way for a Christian to become Yoga Alliance Registered is to actually practice yoga philosophy/ lifestyle or lie about it. Either one shows a lack of integrity.
WHOLYFIT endorses a Biblical Worldview and embraces the truth of God’s Word. Yoga endorses a non-biblical worldview and denies the truth of God’s Word.
