What are WholyFit Classes?
WHOLYFIT is a multi-level strengthening and stretching fitness program built to accomplish specific health and fitness goals. Founder, Laura Monica’s background comes from 30 years of exercise prescription and program design (see Bio).
NEED FOR WHOLYFIT
WHOLYFIT Devotional Exercise encourages health and fitness for the whole person. In the chruch environment WholyFit incorporates the Christian lifestyle practices of: Prayer, Biblical Meditation on Scripture, Worship and Rest.
Teacher certification is presented from a conservative, Biblical, evangelical worldview from a loving and joyful attitude full of worship and thanksgiving. Goals are centered on wholeness, holiness and fitness through Christ Jesus alone.
ALL FITNESS LEVELS, BODY SIZES AND SHAPES ARE WELCOME
WHOLYFIT classes are equally at home in the church environment and health clubs. In the church it can be presented as “a bible study in motion.”
WHOLYFIT teachers are trained by experienced, knowledgeable fitness professionals using cutting edge research and design so that classes are safe for the general population.
WholyFit’s original postures may look like yoga, but most often, the technique behind them is very different. Many Yoga classes do not emphasize the specific fitness goals that WholyFit does:
- WHOLYFIT has a defined format with a detailed, purposeful warm-up. Yoga does not have a globally defined format, is inconsistent in presentation and does not always contain a warm-up.
- WHOLYFIT exercises are based on ACSM and AFAA fitness guidelines which promote a high benefit to risk ratio. Yoga is entrenched in tradition and a number of common traditional yoga poses have a high risk to benefit ratio (like “Full Lotus.”)
- WHOLYFIT offers fitness based sequencing. You will get an awesome workout that is just right for you.

Church members as well as Health Club members deserve excellence. Excellence is WHOLYFIT’S distinguishing characteristic. WHOLYFIT is based on bio-mechanics of movement offering modifications using incremental presentation techniques. WHOLYFIT training includes anatomy, Kinesiology, exercise design and group leadership as well as discipleship and inspiration to follow Christ and make Him preeminent in all things.
WHOLYFIT postures correspond to Scripture and and have Christ-honoring names. Yoga postures are often named after stories honoring religious heroes of the Hindu and other religions. For example, the “hero” pose in yoga honors a deity. Jesus is the real hero. He gave His life so we could live. He came into darkness so we could have the light of life.
“I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” – Jesus (John 8:12)
WHOLYFIT teaches the Biblical practice of Christian Meditation by thinking about Scripture. This is much different than classical Yogic transcendental meditation which teaches mantras based on the names of Hindu gods. (Click here to read my friend Vail’s book about her former years as a TM teacher. She cracks the truth about TM wide open!)
WHOLYFIT teachers are servants of God who provide a multi-level and self-paced program, offering gradual acclimation using cutting edge personal training techniques. In contrast, the yoga mindset venerates teachers by calling them “Master” and elevate the more advanced practitioners, even referring to them as “adepts.” One of the goals of yoga is to reach a heightened state of being, above other people. God created all people equal and therefore no person or group of persons is “more highly evolved” than anyone else. We are all equal, all sinners, bought by the the blood of Christ Jesus.
WHOLYFIT endorses a Biblical Worldview and embraces the truth of God’s Word. Yoga endorses a non-biblical worldview and denies the truth of God’s Word.
WHOLYFIT helps you to follow Jesus.
